David Allen Metzger, 71 formerly of Lewistown, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living in Harrisburg.
Born on September 29, 1952 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John E. and Jean M. (McAllister) Metzger. David graduated in 1971 from Lewistown Granville High School. He was a proud Navy Veteran for 21 years where he enjoyed scuba diving off the coast of Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He worked for the VA Hospital for 25 years and was a member of the American Legion in Florida. David was a collector of many things and traveled to many different countries throughout his life. He was the type of person to spark up a conversation with strangers and make friends with anyone.
David leaves behind his siblings, William Metzger and wife, Josie of Pahrump, Nevada, Stephen Metzger and wife, Lynn of Ridgeway, Virginia, James Metzger and wife, Terri of Pittsburgh, and Anne Lloyd and husband, Russ of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Rosie Metzger of Burnham, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by brother, John R. Metzger.
A viewing will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024 at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. The service will begin at 4 p.m with Pastor Randy Traxler. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Mt. Rock Cemetery.
