Shirley A. Baade, 87, of Mifflin, passed away at 10:19 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2024, at her residence.
Born on March 5, 1937, in St. Louis, M.O., she is the daughter of the late Julius Francis and Vernall Annebell (Feldkamp) Zielinski.
On Oct. 26, 1957, she married her surviving husband, Richard K. Baade, with whom she was blessed to share over 66 years of marriage before her passing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sherry M. Baade of McAlisterville, Ronald R. Baade and his wife, Pamela of Mifflin, and Douglas K. Baade and his wife, Heather of York; four grandchildren, Valerie Gordon and her husband, Casey, Christa Restifo, Brandon Baade, and Lane Baade; three great grandchildren, Gabriel Gordon, Callum Gordon, and Braxton Baade; two sisters, Gerry Kirchner and her husband, Michael of Wayland, M.O., and Denise Morris and her husband, Randy of New Hartford, M.O.; and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Baade was a 1955 graduate of Normandy High School in St. Louis and attended the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. where she studied Retail.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated the NFL Home Center in Shrewsbury, Pa. until their retirement.
Shirley was a member and attended St. Jude Catholic Church in Mifflintown where she was a former President and Treasurer of the Women's Guild. In earlier life, she was a member and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, charity work, and will be remembered as a devoted active Catholic and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3918 William Penn Hwy., Mifflintown with the Rev. Richard Groff officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Baade's memory can be made to the March of Dimes,1550 Crystal Dr, Suite 1300, Arlington, VA 22202 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
