Lawrence L. Benner

Lawrence L. Benner, 100, formerly of McAlisterville, entered into eternity on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Brookline Village, Mifflintown just 2 hours shy of his 101st birthday.

Born on March 31, 1923 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Harry and Emma (Adams) Benner.

In April 1943, he was married to his late wife, Elsie Mae (Hart) Benner, with whom he was blessed to share over 79 years of marriage before her passing on October 11, 2022.

He is survived by: one son, Gary Benner and wife Jane of McAlisterville; one daughter, Nancy Potter of McAlisterville; his grandchildren, Alan Potter and his wife Heidi of Middleburg, Anne Feltman and her husband Rodney of McAlisterville, Glenda Barry and her husband Patrick of Dublin, Ireland, and Angie Varner of Ohio; two great granddaughters, Michaela and Tara Feltman; one son in law, Alan Varner; one sister in law, Pauline Benner of Mifflin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Naomi Varner; one grandson, Dennis Benner; one son in law, Roy Potter; one sister, Irene Troutman; and four brothers, Clair Benner, Boyd Benner, Herman Benner, and Park Benner. Mr. Benner was a self employed dairy farmer for most of his life and was a member of the Bunkertown Brethren Church where he served in many different leadership roles throughout the years.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville with his Pastor's Wes Stahl and Steve Osenga officiating. Interment will be private in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.

A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Benner's memory can be made to the Bunkertown Brethren Church. 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to the Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
