Thomas C. Gross

Thomas C. Gross, 84, of Lewistown, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Brookline Manor Nursing Home in Mifflintown.

Born July 11, 1939, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Anna Packer. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his sister, April Paige and brother, Tony Gross.

Tom is survived by his siblings, Jean Clark, of Lewistown, Richard Packer, of Mifflintown, Patrick Packer and wife, Lisa, of Lewistown, Martin Packer, of Baltimore, Theodara "T.V." Brittain and husband, Terry, of Lewistown, Kitty Packer, of McVeytown, and Robin Harpster and husband, Eugene, of Yeagertown, nieces and nephews, Raymond Paige, Janis Hassinger, William Packer, Molly Packer, Danielle Lemin, Shane Packer, Brian Packer, Scarlett Packer, Saturn Bankert, Venus Shade and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was a dedicated member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, elder and lay minister. His church family meant so much to him. Earlier in life, he was employed as an English teacher at Chief Logan for many years.

Tom defined what it was to be kind, caring and compassionate. He was a brother, friend, teacher and mentor to many. Tom gave to all without expectation of anything in return. He brought joy, hope and love to all he met. He loved wishing "Merry Christmas" to everyone even in July! Of all of the titles he held, uncle was by far his best fulfilled role. His nieces Venus and Saturn, and great nephews, Michael, Austin and Benjamin brought him great pride and delight. Tom was to them, the "greatest uncle in the world." If you were lucky enough to be Tom's friend, it came with a guarantee of forever. Tom took his friends along on his zestful and spirited ride of life. Tom was especially blessed to have Larry Welshans as his friend for 47 years. Their adventures were many and memorable. Larry's friendship and devotion was steadfast to the end. To which, Tom's nieces will be eternally grateful.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third Street, Lewistown, with Rev. Sarah Sedgwick officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown
