Harry Alton ‘Muggs’ Geedey

Harry Alton "Muggs" Geedey passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2024 at William Penn Healthcare in Lewistown. He was 96.

Born Feb. 7, 1928 in Hawstone, he was the son of John Arthur Geedey and Mary Katherine Musser. His wife, Thelma J. Geedey, who he married in 1950 passed away in 2011 after 61 years of marriage.

He is survived by four children, Harry M. Geedey and wife Glenda Geedey of Lewistown, George A. Geedey and husband Dan Schoenman of Jupiter, FL, Daniel A. Geedey of Mifflintown, and Deborah H. Geedey of Mifflintown; two sisters, Jean Aurand and Helen Casner; one brother, Raymond Geedey; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Russell Geedey, Boyd Geedey, Thelma Swab, and Hope Elaine Swailes Watts.

Harry graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1946. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 where he earned the World War 2 Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He mustered out of the Army in 1947 as a Sergeant.

Harry was a carpenter in early life, and he built the house they lived in and raised his family in Denholm. He retired from Standard Steel in 1991. In retirement, Harry enjoyed hunting, golfing, woodworking, camping, and traveling with his wife, Thelma. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

Memorial Services, where the family has requested a time to share stories and memories in honor of Mr. Geedey, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. Interment will be private in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the memorial services 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
