Gail L. Earnest, 72, of Valley View Haven, was welcomed into her eternal home with Jesus, on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024.
Born on July 24, 1951, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Geneva (Stuck) Furgison Sr.
She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Mark and Cindi Earnest, of Lewistown, Melissa and Darren Kauffman, of Reedsville, Chad and Sherri Earnest, of Lewistown; loving grandsons, Cameron and Ashley Earnest, of York, Nathan and Hannah Earnest, of McVeytown; precious great-grandson, Jase Earnest. Along with the step grandchildren who she thought of and loved dearly, Cole and Mayah Kauffman, of Belleville, Hannah and Kyle Smith, of Lewistown, Emma Kauffman, of Lewistown, Dustin and Leah Riden, of Lewistown, Amanda Riden, of Lewistown, Tim Romig, of Lewistown; step great-grandchildren, Abi Riden, Donny Riden, Charlotte Riden and Haven Smith (on the way); siblings, Mary (Donald) Gotthardt, of Virginia, James (Evelyn) Furgison Jr., of Bellefonte, Wanda Wagner, of York, Homer Furgison, of Reedsville, Linda Ferguson, Lewistown, Connie (Terry) Wearstler, of S.C., Joan (John) Smith, of Lewistown, and David (Sue) Furgison, of Lewistown; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Earnest, of Lewistown, Judy (Bill) Melius, of Lewistown, Harold (Luann) Earnest, of Lewistown, Anita (Ron) Burdge, of Lewistown,, and Calvin (Sheila) Earnest, of Lewistown; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Kenneth R. Earnest, in Oct. 2019, who she now walks with on the streets of gold in their eternal, heavenly home with Jesus, restored and forever young. We miss them deeply, but know we will meet again when the good Lord calls our name.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Dolly (Donald) Goss, Rose (Fred) Johnson, and Dottie Cox; brother, Rick Furgison; brother-in-law, George Ferguson; sister-in-law, Tina Earnest; and loving in-laws, John and Edna Earnest
For years our beautiful mama battled with mental illness and diabetes that took a toll on her mind and body. Our loving dad took exceptional care of her and stood by her side, always putting her first. We were truly blessed with two very loving parents. Our mom was a homemaker all her life devoting her time and love to her family. She endured much from her illness, but had all the love and support from our dad, us, her family, and friends. Our dad was her best friend. They spent almost 51 years together; loving one another through all life threw at them. She loved going for rides, going out to eat, listening to music, especially her son-in-laws and just loved anything involving family, who she loved with all her heart. Although we do not understand why things happen the way they do, we serve a faithful, loving God, who is in control of all things, and loves us more than we will ever comprehend. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, nurse's aides and all the staff at Valley View Haven for the care, love and support you gave to our precious mom while she resided there. We are appreciative for all you did and we thank you with all our hearts. She loved you all dearly and cared about everyone, building many friendships during her time there. We are forever grateful. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Reverend John Walters officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery.
