William L. Edwards, 86, of Lewistown, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at Greenwood Village.
Born June 13, 1937 in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late Willard A. and Velma E. (Solt) Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Kunder, and siblings, Willard A. "Buddy" Edwards, Jr. and a brother in infancy, James Edwards.
William is survived by his loving wife, Virginia M. (Mangles) Edwards, children, Jeannette "Gigi" Chamberlain, of Shippensburg, Lanielle Reese and companion Chuck Curry, of Lewistown, and Lisa Mayes, of Fayetteville, grandchildren, Jessica Hatter and husband, Kenneth, Nathan Reese and wife, Julia, Billy Chamberlain and wife, Michele, Danny Mayes, and Drew Mayes, great-grandchildren, Nicholas Clapsaddle, Patton Carper, Arabella Thrush, Edison Carper, Connor Reese, Sophie Johnson, Charlotte Reese, Lily Mayes, Jackson Hatter, and a brother Ronald Edwards.
William was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Yeagertown for many years.
He graduated from Shippensburg University, where he received a degree in education. Upon graduation, he was employed at Chief Logan High School as a teacher for 38 years retiring in 1997. He loved traveling with his wife to the beach and The Trapp Family Lodge. He also had a great passion for slot-car and RC racing.
A funeral service in loving memory of William will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from noon until time of service.
Burial will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
