Helen Josephine Morrison

Helen Josephine Morrison, 98, of McClure, passed away peacefully on Feb. 18, 2024.

Born on Jan. 17, 1926, to the late Jacob H. and Erma L. (Baker) Erb.

Helen was a beloved fixture of the Snyder County community, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, grand-aunt and friend who was known to all as a wonderful conversationalist, with a quick wit and delightful sense of humor.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of McClure and spent more than 20 years working in the deli at Saylor's Market in Beaver Springs.

After retiring from Saylor's Market, she continued to work well into her 80s as a grandparent helper at West Beaver Elementary, where she was fondly known as 'Grandma Helen' to countless students, teachers, and parents.

As she advanced in years, she was especially appreciative of the help and support she received from her son John, her grand-nephew Andy Erb, her neighbors Connie and Robert Weader and Tanna Goss and her dear friend Ruth Rager.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen M. Erb; her brothers, Harvey D. Erb (and wife Doris) and Rev. Paul J. Erb; her sister, Lois M. Yeater (and husband Cecil); her grandson, William J. Zajac; and her nephew, Keith Erb.

Surviving Helen are her daughter, Mary Jo Zajac and husband, James; her son, John W. Morrison and wife, Kathy (Cook); her granddaughters, Shauna Zajac, Miranda Stroik and husband, Caleb, and Courtney Zimmerman and husband, Adam; her great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Zimmerman and Coleson Stroik; and her sister-in-law, Betty Erb.

She also leaves behind countless beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends.

Her family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers at Greenwood Village Nursing Home for the care, kindness, and compassion shown during the final years of her long, happy life.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of McClure, 10 West Specht St., McClure, followed by a memorial service at 11 with Rev. Kathy Mercado officiating.

Burial will follow in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure.

Arrangements are by the Kreamer Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
