Betty Jane Forsythe

Betty Jane Forsythe, 97, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 at Greenwood Village.

Born Oct. 12, 1926 in Coraopolis, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Wilma (Dimeter) Boggs. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Forsythe, Sr., a son, Edward M. Forsythe, Jr., and 4 siblings.

Betty is survived by her children, Joyce E. Appleby and husband Jeffrey, of Kutztown, Clifford M. Forsythe and wife Christine, of McClure, Charlotte M. Snyder and husband Robert, of Lewistown, and daughter-in-law, Cathy A. Forsythe, of Lewistown, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and siblings, Edward Brisbin, of Ohio, and Eleanor Benedict, of Sewickely, PA.

Earlier in life, she was an active member of Evangel Baptist Church in Lewistown.

Earlier in life, she was employed at Clark's Candy Company in Pittsburgh, and Pick Wick Press in Pittsburgh. She was also employed at Pop's Ice Cream and The Textile Union Workers of America in Lewistown. Later in life, she was employed at the Juniata Valley Y.M.C.A. for over 20 years until her retirement. She served in The Juniata Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America as a cub scout leader. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and watching Jeopardy.

A funeral service in loving memory of Betty will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday Feb. 26, 2024, at King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Rev. Tom Morningstar officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Burial will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
