William E. ‘Sonny’ Settle

William E. "Sonny" Settle, 87, of Granville, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Greenwood Village.

Born Aug. 6, 1936, in Mattawana, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Adams) Settle. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Emmett John Cutter, and six siblings.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Connie Sue (Ayers) Settle, whom he married in 1959, children, Lori Steele and husband, George, and W. Scott Settle and wife, Linda, all of Lewistown, grandchildren, Hannah Cutter and husband, Bruce, of Enola, Zachary Settle and wife, Erin, of Hempstead, N.H., and Maggie Ferguson and husband, Brad, of Belleville, and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Settle, Wyatt William Cutter, Hunter Scott Settle, Brinley Elizabeth Cutter, Jaxon Espigh, and Kennedy Ferguson.

He honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army.

Sonny was a member of Granville United Methodist Church. Earlier in life, he was employed at the American Viscose Corp. for 14 years, and later at Standard Steel from 1973-1999. He was a life member at Granville Firehouse, Lewistown City Hook & Ladder, and the last original member of Rocky Hollow Camp. Sonny was a passionate outdoorsman, and was an avid hunter. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren that meant so much to him.

A funeral service in loving memory of Sonny will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown with Pastor Stephanie Rupert officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery.
