Shelby Jean Reeder, 86, of Lewisburg, departed from this earth on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born April 26, 1937, in Burnham, the daughter of the late David "Banks" and Nellie I. (Henry) Fultz.
She is survived by her son, Douglas M. Reeder and daughter-in-law, Rebecca L. Reeder of York; son, Steven K. Reeder of Middleburg; son, Brian D. Reeder of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughter, Ashley L. Reeder and husband Ian Andrews of Philadelphia; brother, Daniel G. Fultz of Pittsford, N.Y., as well as seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Reeder II; and brother, Gary B. Fultz.
Shelby was a graduate of Chief Logan Joint High School, Class of 55. Upon graduation she worked at Standard Steel in Burnham, and as a Bell Telephone operator in Harrisburg. She was married to the late William M. Reeder II and lovingly raised three sons.
While raising her loving family she worked several jobs throughout the years, supervisor at Keystone Inventory Services, dental assistance, and cashier for Weis and Fox's Markets. She also volunteered as an Ombudsman person for the Union-Snyder Agency on Aging.
Shelby was involved in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was active in all churches she had attended throughout her life, singing in choirs, and serving many community outreach programs. She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Middelburg. She was active as a participant in the Relay for Life events and was a passionate supporter of the arts her whole life.
She will be sorely missed for her outpouring of love, encouragement, and humor. She prioritized others over herself and always displayed concern and passion. She was thoughtful and giving her entire life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shelby's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, SPCA, or Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
After cremation, a celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 100 E. Main St., Middleburg, with Pastor Paul Kampa officiating. The family will receive guest starting at 10 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m.
Memorial service arrangements were made by the Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg.
