Richard K. Heister, 73, of Mattawana, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1950 in Mattawana, he was a son of the late Charles William and Marian (Allison) Heister.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert and Darl Heister.
Surviving are: two sons, John R. Heister and wife Crystal of Milroy, Chad R. Cornelius of Reedsville; four brothers, Ronald Heister and wife, Bernadette of McVeytown, Larry Heister and wife, Velma of Granville, Darwin Heister and wife, Patricia of McVeytown, Carl Heister of Camp Hill; a sister, Jane Cramer and husband, Mark of McAlisterville; two grandchildren, Jasmine and Austin Cornelius; and a great grandson, Reid Cornelius.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and retired from Overhead Door Corp. in Lewistown where he worked in shipping and receiving for more than 25 years.
Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with Pastor Kenneth Grove officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
A viewing will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
