James Clark Harper, 83, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest, Nov. 30, 2023. He was born in Lewistown on March 4, 1940 to the late James M. and Helen L. (Shirk) Harper.
Jim was a proud US Army Veteran having served in Korea. He was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, attended San Angelo College in T.X. and graduated from the Thompson Institute. Jim was retired from the borough of Middletown where he served as the Finance Director until 1995 and he also worked as an accountant for the George Frey Trust for over 50 years. Jim coached baseball and also umpired baseball and softball in the area for many years. He was a charter member of the Lower Swatara Township Lion's Club and a member of the American Legion, Post 594. Jim loved to go to camp to hunt, fish and relax with family and friends.
Jim was married to the love of his life, Bonnie L. (Amick) Harper for 62 years. She blessed him with two great sons - James Brian and John Adam. They, in turn, married two lovely women. Brian married Cherise Farmer and they were blessed with a daughter, Jordan, and son, Dakota. John married Jessica Ludwig and they were blessed with three sons - Logan, Chase and Cole.
Jim also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Mary Kay, who was married to his late brother Donald. They had two sons - Donald and Kelly, and they have several children. In addition to family, Jim leaves behind wonderful friends, which he was blessed to know.
Per Jim's wishes, he will be cremated and a reception for family and friends will be held at a private residence early next year.
