Donald A. Mills, 87, of Lewistown, formerly of Strodes Mills, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Embassy of Hearthside, State College.
Born April 13, 1936, in Shade Gap. He was the son of the late Wilbur and Arlene (Clark) Mills. He was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Locke in June of 1958. Mrs. Mills survives in Lewistown.
He is also survived by three children, Kari Swigart and husband, Steve of Reedsville, Traci Kreider and husband, John of McClure and Micha Mills and wife, Chistine of McVeytown, seven grandchildren, Katelin Kramm, Daniel Swigart, Matt Kreider, Nathan Swigart, Jared Kreider, Micaela Mills and Blaine Kurtz, 11 great-grandchildren and two siblings, Bernard Mills and wife, Mary of Mechanicsburg and Ann Bolinger-McMonigal and husband, George of New Cumberland. He was proceeded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Mills and Marilyn Small.
Mr. Mills attended the McVeytown United Methodist Church.
He graduated from Orbisonia High School and worked all of his life farming, cutting timber and doing construction. He retired in 1998 from Standard Steel in Burnham after 37 years of service.
Mr. Mills loved nature and the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed old trucks, horses, cats and spending time at the family camp.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, Pa. with Pastor Steve Swigart officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap, Pa. Friends and family may call at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shade Gap Sportsman, 11897 Sawmill Road, Shade Gap, Pa. 17255.
