Nancy Joanne Fanter, 92, peacefully passed away on Dec. 21, 2023, at Canyon Trails in Canoga Park, CA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Sept. 17, 1931, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to Arie Alizabeth and Agustus Merle McCracken, Nancy married Roger Elmer Fanter in 1956. Their blissful marriage spanned 61 years until Roger's passing.
Nancy, grew up with close girlfriends, whom she remained lifelong friends.. She met Roger while both worked for the same employer in Ohio. Her legacy shines as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, with notable contributions to family well-being, including support for Roger's sports coaching and acting career. Nancy cherished thrifting for hidden treasures, Friday night movies, reading, and collecting old books, particularly medical and cookbooks, along with her weekly Inquire gossip magazines.
Survived by her four children, Neil and Jeanne Fanter, Nina and Frank Mancino, Tracy Phillips (preceded in passing by Jimi Phillips), and Raye-Jean Acheronti, along with five grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson. Nancy is also survived by her nephew Kenny McCracken and niece Robin Lestochi. A closed military service will be held for the family.
