Mary Jane Morris

Mary Jane Morris, 88, of Harrisburg passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at the Camp Hill Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Spruce Hill, Juniata County, she was the youngest daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Swartz.

Mary Jane graduated from Tuscarora Valley High School in 1953 and began a 33 year career with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

A devoted mother, sister, and friend, Mary Jane had a close-knit family that brought her immense joy throughout her life. Her years of retirement were characterized by travel and shared experiences with loved ones, creating cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mary Jane's interests in cooking, gardening, and entertaining reflected the warmth and care she extended to everyone around her. Her culinary skills and green thumb brought people together, creating a sense of home and belonging.

Mary Jane made a lasting and positive impact on the lives of her family and friends. She will be remembered with love and fond memories, her spirit living on in the stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

May Mary Jane rest in eternal peace, her legacy of love and warmth forever cherished in the hearts of those she touched.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her siblings, Jesse Kennedy and Jack Swartz, her husbands, Frank Henry and Lou Morris and is survived by her children, Linda Ritter and her husband, Tom Ritter, Lisa Henry and Brett Henry, along with her grandchildren, Dustin Ritter, Cody Ritter, Lyle Pickles, Levi Henry and Ryan Henry along with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families.

Mary Jane will be laid to rest at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Hoover Funeral Homes, & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, to honor her life.

A visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral home, prior to the service.
