Jerry L. Hummel

Jerry L. Hummel, a cherished husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2023, in Elkhart, Ind. at the age of 71. Born on May 18, 1952, in Lewisburg, Pa., Jerry was a man whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

Jerry grew up in the close-knit community of Lewisburg and graduated from Middleburg High School. He went on to dedicate 32 years of his life as a dependable truck driver for Zimmerman Trucking. His commitment to his work was matched by his service to the community, where he also held positions as an armed guard and a funeral home assistant. Jerry's selfless nature shone through in his willingness to lend a hand at the state cafeteria, helping his wife, Molly, whenever he could.

Jerry's life was a testament to the values of friendship, selflessness, and love. He was a devoted husband to Molly H. (Stroup) Hummel and a loving father to his children, Jennifer (Scott) Rowsell, Keith Hummel, and John Jones. His parents, Allen and Faye (Haines) Hummel preceded him in death, but his legacy continues through his brother, Kerry (Angie) Hummel, and his adored grandchildren, Micah and Ellianna, who brought immense joy to his life. Jerry was also preceded in death by two brothers.

A man of many interests, Jerry was a proud Mason, reflecting his commitment to brotherhood and community service. His friendly demeanor made him a people person through and through, someone who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling like a lifelong friend. Jerry's love for shopping was well-known, especially as he delighted in finding the perfect decorations for his wife to adorn their home for the holidays. His generosity knew no bounds, and his home was always a welcoming haven of warmth and festivity.

Keeping with Jerry's wishes there will be no services and burial will take place in Pennsylvania at a later date.
