Eleanor Jean "EJ" Thomas, 97, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at Greenwood Village in Lewistown.
She was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Johnstown, the daughter of Hugh W. and Eleanor J. (Soyke) James. Preceded in death by husband Bernard R. Thomas; parents, and sisters, Margaret Baumgardner, Myra Liegel, Marion Garrity and Lois Biss.
Survived by children, Bill and wife Patricia (Crowley) Thomas of Johnstown and Becky, wife of Bob Havice of Lewistown; grandchildren, Chris, husband of Megan (Gillig) Thomas, Craig, husband of Kelly (Ziemba) Thomas and Scott, husband of Kristine (Poplawski) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Gemma, Ashlyn, Mabel and Ella Thomas.
Member St. John's Methodist Church of Sebring, Fla. Mother, housewife, grandmother, and part-time bookkeeper. Enjoyed vacationing with her young grandkids and husband during summer months. She also was a talented artist. Also dabbled in politics, once running for auditor general in a Republican primary.
Resident of Sebring, Fla., from late 1990's to 2016. Living in Lewistown, Pa., since that time.
Private interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. The family would like to thank the staff on the 100 hall and the Memory Care Unit of Ohesson/Greenwood Village for the care and attention they gave EJ over the last five years.
