Rev. Philip C. Tundel

Rev. Philip C. Tundel, 73, of Yeagertown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at his home.

Born March 21, 1949 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward C. and Hjordis M. (Lien) Tundel. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy (Craig) Tundel, and a brother, David Tundel.

Phil is survived by his children; Rachel E. Lukmann and husband Andrew, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jonathan P.E. Tundel and wife Lucy, of Durham, N.C., and Matthew Tundel, Rio Rancho, N.M.; siblings, Karen Kramme and husband Clark, of IA, and Andrea MacDougall, of N.H., grandchild, Amelia Lukmann.

He honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Navy.

Philip graduated from Pacific Lutheran University, and Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, he ministered at various churches in Texas, Buffalo, N.Y., Canonsburg, and most recently at Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Yeagertown for the last 30 years. Earlier in life, he performed in The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. He also took time to enjoy track and field, and listen to music.

A funeral service in loving memory of Philip will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 132 N. Main Street, Yeagertown PA 17099, with the Rev. Kenneth Longfield, and Bishop Craig Arthur Miller officiating.

Interment will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
