Max E. Corkins Jr., 77, of Lewistown, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Greenwood Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 28, 1944 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Max E. Corkins, Sr. and Ednalue (Peck) Corkins-Caton.
Max is survived by his biological children, Sherri Oakes, and Terri Shiffler, all of Strasburg Virginia, Leslie Sweeney and fiance Chris Warfel, of Reedsville, and Maxi Curry and husband Wade, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Catherine Gutshall and husband Brian, and Garth Corkins and wife Tammy, all of Lewistown; and stepsisters, Colleen Perou and husband Patrick, of New Jersey, and Maureen Durst and husband Scott, of Lewistown.
Earlier in life, he was employed at the family restaurant, known as "Corkins Restaurant," where he later became the owner.
Max had a passion for music from an early age, playing the accordion and keyboard in numerous bands throughout his life. Most of his life, he restored Studebaker Automobiles, and even served as past president of The Studebaker Driver's Club. He was also a member of The Brooklyn Fire Co.
A memorial service in loving memory of Max will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown, PA 17044, with Pastor Michael Bailey officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.
