Thomas K ‘Tom’ Swigart

Thomas K. ”Tom” Swigart, 62, of Duncannon, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022. He passed away peacefully at his home.

Born on Aug. 19, 1959, in Lewistown, Tom grew up on the family farm in Mattawana. He was the son of the late Craig K. Swigart who passed away in August 2017 and the late Harriet L. Swigart who passed away in September 2005. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant, Erin.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sherrie Kurtz Swigart of Duncannon; three children, son, Luke of Duncannon, daughter, Nicole of Duncannon and son, Levi of Halifax, along with eight grandchildren. He has two surviving brothers: Craig R. Swigart of McVeytown and Steven C. Swigart and wife Kari of Reedsville.

He was a member of the last graduating class from Rothrock High School in 1978 and had various jobs in the central Pennsylvania area throughout his life. Most recently, Tom was employed as a commercial driver with Pitt-Ohio Freight Trucking Company.

Tom was a true family man and enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. He was associated with a hunting camp in Licking Creek from which he hunted and fished and spent time with his family and friends. He was known to be jovial and lighthearted, appreciating time with people who he knew, as well as opportunities to make new friends. Most importantly, Tom was faithful to his Lord and was a devout Christian. He spoke often about God and his love of Jesus Christ. Tom was a member of the New Buffalo Alliance Church in Duncannon and participated in mission trips. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Services will be held in Duncannon at the New Buffalo Alliance Church on Monday, Jan. 10, at 1 p.m. A viewing will also take place from noon-1 p.m. Also, services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at McVeytown Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. with a viewing at the church from noon-1 p.m.

Burial will take place in Mattawana Cemetery in McVeytown following the service.
