James L. Yoder, 83, formerly of Mattawana, passed away at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at William Penn Healthcare, in Lewistown.
Born Nov. 28, 1933, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Jonathan A. and Elsie (Kauffman) Yoder. His wife, Nancy H. (Harshbarger) Yoder, whom he married, Sept. 29, 1956, survives.
Also surviving are: two daughters, April D. Ross and husband, Stanley, of Broomall, Melissa Yoder, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Liem Ross and Logan Ross.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, Arthur Yoder, Enid Stroup, Grace Rager, Merle Yoder, and Ivan Yoder.
Employed as a truck driver for UPS for over 30 years, he also did small engine repair.
He was a member of the Mattawana Mennonite Church, the Big Valley Men's Chorus, the McVeytown Fire Company and the McVeytown Ambulance Association. Jim also was an avid hunter.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Mattawana Mennonite Church with Pastor Rod Lehman officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
