James A. “Jim” Messimer, 88, of Millerstown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center.
On April 30, 1951, he married the former Mildred M. Fisher, who survives. His passing breaks a loving marital union of 64 years.
James was born on March 4, 1927, in Korn Krest, the son of the late Edward and Ida (Boyer) Messimer.
He retired after employment of over 39 years from Conrail, Enola.
James was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Richfield were he served as a trustee and the Millerstown Fire and Ambulance companies.
In addition to his wife Mildred, James is survived by: his three children and their spouses, Clifford “Cliff” and Wendy Messimer, of Thompsontown, Barry and Andrea Messimer, of McAlisterville, and Judy and Barry Hoffman, of Richfield; eight grandchildren, Kelly Druckenmiller and husband, Dan, Kristen Cohenour and husband, Mike, Keianna Messimer, Edward Messimer and wife, Caitlan, Derek Messimer and fiancee, Katrina Miller, Kurtis Hoffman and wife, Jennifer, Marcus Hoffman, and Samantha Jacoby and husband, Joshua; five great-grandchildren, Ian and Ava Druckenmiller, Molly Messimer, and Kaylin and Riley Hoffman; two brothers and a sister, George Messimer and wife, Cecelia, of Richfield, Helen Frantz, of Apopka, Florida, and David Messimer and wife, Faye, of Millerstown; and nieces and nephews.
James was preceded by: two brothers, Charles Boyer Messimer and Park Messimer; and three great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Aiden and Bryce Cohenour.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Rt. 35, Mount Pleasant Mills and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1392 Dressler’s Ridge Road, Richfield. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Brown. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
