A second look at Keturah

Abraham again took a wife, and her name was Keturah. Genesis 25:1 Because of some questions people have had about Keturah (Abraham's third wife), we are going to take a closer look at her. Here is one of the first questions I was asked; where is Keturah found, in what writings is she mentioned? Let’s start with the Bible. In Genesis 25:1 it says, “Abraham again took a wife, and her name was Keturah.” Then in I Chronicles 1:32 it says, “Now the sons born to Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. The sons of Jokshan were Sheba ...

Now, every born again Christian has God’s love just as every Christian has the indwelling Holy Spirit. But when an individual is baptized with the Holy Ghost as the disciples experienced on the day of Pentecost, a greater measure of the Holy Spirit is given and a greater love is imparted to the believer. Love is key. We are loved by God and we ...

A friendly reminder: Don’t waste your life

Next month I will turn 39. For some, you might consider me young. For others, perhaps you consider me old. Whatever the case, I am fast approaching middle age. It is very possible that I have less days in front of me than I do behind. God only knows. The Bible continually reminds us of the brevity of life. James writes, “Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit – yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. ...
