First Bakers UMC
to host Bible study
LEWISTOWN — First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The church will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

Summer is rapidly approaching and time to start thinking about our Vacation Bible School. Hosted by Trinity Lutheran Church and Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, VBS runs June 16-20 from 6-8 p.m. and capped off with a joint worship service in Fayette Park on Sunday June 23. BEAVERTOWN — Helping Hands, Helping Others, Inc. will be holding a food give-away beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 (depending on the arrival of the truck) in the pavilion at Beaver Lutheran Church, Rt. 522 at the west end of Beavertown. Griffith to sing at First United Methodist Church
LEWISTOWN — Lisa Griffith will sing during the Sunday service at First United Methodist Church in Lewistown on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Griffith is a native of Belleville whose performances as a coloratura soprano have been highly acclaimed by critics in major German opera houses. She has performed in the German Opera on the Rhine in Dusseldorf since 1991. Griffith graduated from Kishacoquillas High School in 1975, then studied music at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 1979. She continued her education at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, earning her Master of Music degree in 1981 and an Artist’s Diploma in Opera at the Cincinnati Conservatory in 1983. Griffith has given concerts throughout the world and made several recordings.
