As summer approaches, many families are looking for summer camps for their kids and teens. It can sometimes be a challenge to find one in which parents feel comfortable and offers experienced staff, counselors and directors. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to experience a lot of different camp environments and nothing has impressed me more than Camp Mantowagan.
Camp Mantowagan is located in Saxton, near Raystown Lake, and offers five weeks of camps, from mid-June through mid-July. The weeks are tailored well for various ages, both in how they split up different grades, as well as the lengths of camp for those grades.
From my experience as both a director of one of the weeks, and a father of children who have attended all the various camp weeks, I know your children and teens will find a well-trained, experienced and engaging staff, and have an exciting time, while being appropriately challenged in their spiritual life to know God more. Campers will experience exceptional cabin groups, activities, camp fires, speakers, worship, games, food, crafts and more.
This year's theme is "Together", derived from Ecclesiastes 4:12b, where it states, "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken...", so the camp will be talking about how we connect with each other and have unity as believers! This is so deeply needed in our world, so it will be a great year to attend!
Below are the various camp weeks for the summer of 2023:
• Trailblazer: June 12-17- Campers entering grade 11 through 2023 grads
• Pathfinder: June 19-23 - Campers entering grades 8, 9 and 10
• Adventurer: June 26-30 - Campers entering grades 6** and 7
• Pioneer: July 5-7 - Campers entering grades 2, 3 and 4*
• Explorer: July 10-14 - Campers entering grades 4*, 5 and 6**
*Note 4th graders can pick Pioneer or Explorer
**Note 6th graders can pick Explorer or Adventurer
