Scout’s project could inspire others

REEDSVILLE -- Daniel Dupuis is hoping to use his spiritual beliefs and some hard work to help inspire people with a fire pit project.
A senior at Mifflin County High School, Dupuis was looking for an idea for his Eagle Scout project. He decided to combine two thoughts and create the fire pit next to the Big Valley Bible Church in Reedsville. The pit will help provide a place for people to have cookouts and hopefully, bring people closer to God.
"It was so people could use it and realize that the church was being nice to let them use it, and possibly join the church and get involved with the Lord," Dupuis said.
The project got underway in July of 2022 and was eventually completed in October. Dupuis was thrilled to have it completed and ready for people to use.
"It was long but I wouldn't say it was terribly hard," Dupuis said. "It was a decent amount of labor but nothing terribly hard."
Dupuis gives a lot of the credit to local businesses who donated the tools necessary to complete his project. He is forever grateful for all the help and support.
"That help was tremendous," Dupuis said. "Finance wise, I don't think I would have been able to do it without them. It was very useful and I greatly appreciate that."
With everything complete, Dupuis hopes his project will inspire others to achieve their goals and realize their dreams. All he asks of others is to do one simple thing.
"Be kind to others," Dupuis said. "Help people out when you can."
