UMC to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN -- First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

McALISTERVILLE -- Worship every Sunday at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 420 Main St. in McAlisterville.

New Member Sunday is Feb. 12. Also The 2nd Annual Toilet Paper Bowl of Caring collection with Lost Creek Presbyterian Church comes to a close on the 12th. Last year we jointly collected 347,000 sheets of toilet paper for the Juniata County Food Pantry. This year we challenged ourselves to collect 360,000 sheets, roughly 2,400 single rolls, of toilet paper. The 12th is also Penny Sunday.

ELCA World Hunger Valentine's Day cards and coloring pages order forms are available in the back of the sanctuary. These colorful cards can both show someone how much you care while also caring for our neighbors around the world by covering start-up costs for bee hives, fruit tree seedlings and pig farms to financially sustain families.

Winter art camp

MIFFLINTOWN -- There will be a winter art camp at Lost Creek Mennonite Church in Mifflintown on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Two classes for children: kids art and kids cooking. Shrove Tuesday sausage and pancake supper at Mt. Bethel

McALISTERVILLE -- The McAlisterville Ministerium invites you to the 2023 Lenten Worship Series "Jesus Offers You the Power of Prayer." This year, in-person worship returns, but the service will also be

• Feb. 22 at East Salem, Kevin Brophy will preach on the theme "James Prepares Us for Prayer." This service will include the Rite of the Ashes and Holy Communion.

• Feb. 26 at Free Spring, the theme will be, "Jesus Teaches About Prayer" by Karen Ward.

• March 5 at Lost Creek Mennonite, Perry Munro will speak on "We Can Pray for Anything."

• March 12, Jody Strawser will speak on "Jesus Prays for Himself" at Lost Creek Presbyterian.

• March 19, the theme is "Jesus Prays for His Disciples." Doug Mellott speaks at Browns.

• March 26, Terry Smith speaks at Pine Grove on the theme "Jesus Prays for Future Believers."

• April 2, at Delaware, where the theme is "Jesus Agonizes in the Garden" by Chad Weaver.

• April 7 at Trinity, a Good Friday Tenebrae service led by all the pastors. Offerings this year will be divided between Crossroads Pregnancy Center and Central World Kitchen. Hopefully, this worship series will help you grow in your faith and bless your relationship with God.

GriefShare at Pine Glen

McVEYTOWN -- GriefShare is a special weekly seminar and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after the death of a loved one. GriefShare is for 13 weeks and will begin Thursday, March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the FLC at the Pine Glen Alliance Church along Rt. 103 near McVeytown. The group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and want to help you through the difficult days ahead.
