Jan. 22, 2023 was National Sanctity of Human Life Day, designated as such by President Ronald Reagan on Jan. 22, 1984. If you are like me, you may be quite familiar with this annual observance of the need to protect and save lives, born and unborn. You may even have said on more than one occasion that you believe in the sanctity of human life and know that this term describes the preciousness of human life and have a moral conviction about how human beings are to be perceived and treated. If you are like me you may have offered up a prayer or two on behalf of the unborn or others deemed less than desirable by society. And, if you are like me you've probably even gone as far as giving a monetary donation to a pro-life organization. But...have you ever, like me, been challenged to put action to your thoughts and beliefs by being more personally invested in 'the cause'?
Did you know that we have a wonderful local ministry right here in Mifflin County that values life, whose mission is 'to offer help, hope and healing in Jesus' name and uphold the sanctity of life by providing education, medical service, practical assistance and on-going support'? Crossroads Pregnancy Center has been serving our community since 1985. They offer a variety of services such as free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound, STD testing and treatment, abortion recovery Bible studies and Sexual Integrity program and more. Chances are you know somebody who has directly benefited from what they have to offer.
If you believe that all life is Sacred and wish to practically live that out in deed and not just by word, please consider supporting them. There are many ways to get involved. You can be a prayer partner, become a volunteer or client advocate, serve on the board, host a lamb baby shower and of course donate financially. Personally, I've recently taken action by becoming a Church Liaison, connecting my church to CPC. This is a huge need right now -- church liaisons are the direct link between the ministry of Crossroads and the church body.
So I leave you with this question: How can you best live out your belief in the sanctity of human life? Visit their website at www.cpcforlife.org or find them on Facebook, Friends of Crossroads Pregnancy Center.
