LEWISTOWN -- Pastor Darrell Wireman and members of the Journey Church are attempting to bring a place of hope and healing to those in search of direction. The church wants to become a place to call home for anyone who is struggling, and give hope in Jesus Christ.
"Our church was established in 2015, our goal was to meet an itch that is not being met," Pastor Wireman said. "Just to be there for people in their time of need."
Wireman is no stranger to teaching the Gospel of Jesus, having been involved since 1994. He has been working in several different ministries prior to Journey which included, Youth and Family counseling, Penn State Campus ministries as well as Prison ministries.
After creating the Journey Church in 2015 along with his wife of 40 years, Barb, Wireman continued to move from place to place before finally settling at the current location on Electric Ave in late 2021.
"It was exciting, we probably started with 10 people and we've had three different locations," Wireman said. "This is our third location. We started in a small place in Milroy, then we came here to this building in September of 2021."
Services at the Journey Church are held every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Wireman welcomes all who are looking for a safe place for healing and hope. He wants the people of Mifflin County to know the message is clear. The church is hoping to guide people and help them understand the most important thing about Jesus Christ: He loves us and wants us to be with Him in the Kingdom of Heaven.
"My message to the people is that everybody needs help," Wireman said. "Everybody needs to know the God that created them. And everybody needs to know that God loves them and died for them."
