UMC to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN -- First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

Sunday Services at Trinity Lutheran Church

McALISTERVILLE -- Worship every Sunday at 9 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 420 Main St. in McAlisterville. Divorce care and divorce care for kids (DC4K) kicks-off

BELLEVILLE -- Divorce Care for Adults and DC4K (Divorce Care for Kids) is currently running at New Life Church, 101 N. Beech Street, Burnham, PA and at Locust Grove Church at 3358 W. Main Street, Bellevile, PA.

The Divorce Care program runs in conjunction with Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K). In Burnham, parents attending Divorce Care at New Life Church are invited to enroll their children in Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K) there while families attending the Belleville group will enroll their children at Locust Grove. Registration can be done in advance by calling the phone numbers below. DC4K is a student support group for children ages five - 12 whose families are experiencing separation/divorce.

At DC4K, kids are engaged in crafts, games, activities, DVD dramas, and music. The program is scheduled to run through Dec. 12, 2022, and will feature small groups. DC (Divorce Care) for adults is a divorce support group that meets weekly for 13 weeks to help adults recover from the pain of separation and divorce. Participants experience a warm, caring environment led by people who care and want to help attendees find healing and wholeness in the midst of their circumstances. One DC participant reported: "My life was pretty much in shambles when I began DivorceCare.

Patriotic service at First Baptist Church of Juniata County

MIFFLINTOWN -- The First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 1 mile North of Mifflintown on Route 35, will hold its annual patriotic service honoring our military on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 9:30 a.m. Special guest speaker will be Air Force Chaplain Evan Charles Spencer (Ret.). He was chaplain to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for seven years (2009-2015) and a reserve chaplain with the Texas Air National Guard for 12 years (1997-2009). He served as an active-duty Air Force chaplain for three years (1993-1996). Prior to this he served as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy for six years, and a medic in the Air National Guard for eight years. Spencer currently serves as a chaplain with the Veterans Administration at the medical center in Salem, VA. All veterans will be honored at the service. Invite your friends and family to attend. Jeremy Goodling will sing

at Independent Church

RICHFIELD - Jeremy Goodling, local Christian soloist, is once again hosting his annual concert. It will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022 at Niemonds Independent Church located along Route 35 in Richfield. His four teenage daughters, The Goodling Girls, will join him on stage again this year, as well as his father Dennis Goodling. Donation buckets will be available for this event. Food giveaway in Beavertown

BEAVERTOWN -- Helping Hands, Helping Others Inc. is holding a food giveaway on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Beavertown Hillbilly Fever Carnival Grounds, off East Sassafras in Beavertown. The event is always on the third Wednesday of the month. Please do not arrive before 9:30 a.m. There will be plenty of food available. Volunteers are needed and should arrive at 8:30 a.m. to get organized. Any size donation is appreciated and is a 501-C3 tax donation. Send to P.O. Box 151, Beavertown, PA 17813. Not government funded, so there are no income guidelines.

Seminar at Locust Grove

Mennonite Church

BELLEVILLE -- A surviving the Holidays seminar will be held Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Main St. in Belleville. The seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one's death. You will learn how to deal with the many emotions you will face during the Holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes and how to discover hope for your future. Hanging of the greens at St. Mark's United Methodist Church

Cookie Walk at East Salem Church

MIFFLINTOWN -- The East Salem Church cookie walk is Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 from 10 a.m. - noon. Purchase a bag and fill it with cookies for $10. Soup and sandwiches available for take-out. Sandwiches are $4 each. Soup is $3 per pint, $6 per quart. Proceeds from the cookie walk/soup and sandwiches will support missions and special projects. Proceeds from crafts and baked goods will support Joyful Quilters.

Ernie Haase and Signature Sound at Bunkertown church

McALISTERVILLE -- Ernie Haase and his award-winning group Signature Sound will present their Christmas concert (Jazzy Little Christmas Tour) at Bunkertown Brethren Church Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling the church office (717) 463-3572.
