Cemetery of Innocence brings awareness to abortion at St. Jude’s

MIFFLINTOWN -- Parishioners of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Mifflintown are bringing awareness to widespread cases of abortion. The Cemetery of Innocence, a pro-life display on church property, is a showcase for the cause.
According to the Pro-Life Federation, there are 618 babies aborted each week in Pennsylvania alone. Outside the church in the makeshift cemetery are 618 crosses with colored ribbons to represent each of those babies that have been lost due to an abortion. Parishioners have been displaying the crosses since 2017 in the month of October during Respect of Life month set by the Catholic Church in the United States. Church members did not comment for this article, hoping to keep the focus on the issue and not themselves.
Parishioners are not attempting to spread hate or any negative thoughts toward those who have had abortions. Quite the contrary. The church is trying to help those affected. Many women as well as men and other family members can be deeply scarred by abortion, with many feeling regret.
The parishioners of St. Jude have helped raise money to assist Rachel's Vineyard, a retreat supporting those who are looking for a safe place to help renew their faith and find healing in the name of Jesus Christ after dealing with post-abortion emotions.
