MIFFLINBURG -- A worship service will kick off the summer camp season at Camp Mount Luther on Sunday, June 12.
The service will celebrate the outdoor ministry of the Upper Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Bishop Barbara J. Collins will preside and the Rev. James Vitate will preach. The service will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held outdoors if weather permits. The worship will be immediately following the annual Circle of Faith Giving Club Dinner, which is by invitation.
Camp Mount Luther is gearing up for the summer camping season for 2022 and is still accepting registrations for all programs. Those who bring a new camper can get 25% off their registration fee. The summer camping session will be in full swing in June. This summer's staff will arrive on June 5 for their two weeks of training. On June 19, the first campers for this year will arrive for the season, for Day Camp, TNT (Traditional and New Things) and Senior High X-Teen. From June 26 to July 1, programs offered include Night Owls, Mini Junior Base camp, and Central PA Cycle. From July 5 to 8, Family Camp will be held. Some highlights of programs in July and August:
•Pick-A-Day Day Camp when you pick how many days you want to come from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Elective Explosion for junior and intermediates who love to try new things.
• Wild Camps to explore more about our natural world.
• Mini Pioneer and Junior Base Camps
• SALT (Service And Leadership Training) for our senior high campers.
• Pick An Adventure-for any age to come for a day at camp to do what you want to do.
•Virtual Camp Mount Luther -- This year's theme at Mount Luther is "Boundless: God beyond Measure." Campers will enter the hopeful and saving story of God and God's people and experience the God's boundless creating, loving, and merciful power for us. Come and rediscover boundless goodness, love, welcome, forgiveness, and generosity. Through the camp's method of studying the Bible, called "GROW Time," staff will help campers Gather and Reflect On the Word throughout their day, culminating in an evening worship service. Campers also get to do crafts, go swimming, play games, camp out, and sing songs during their time at Mount Luther.
