Ministry to support single moms

BELLEVILLE — The Mifflin County Single Moms Care and Support Group will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays at New Life Church Cafe, 101 Beech St., Burnham from Sept. 10, 2021 to May 27, 2022.

Dinner is served from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for mothers and children. Child care runs from 7 to 8 p.m. while mothers meet in a group. For more information, call or text Ann at (717) 437-4946.

Church to host

Synod Sunday

McALISTERVILLE – Trinity Lutheran Church, 420 Main St., McAlisterville, will hold Companion Synod Sunday – a day in which there will be prayer for sister congregations in Liberia and Germany. Worship will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, live streamed on Facebook, posted to YouTube and on www.trinitymcalisterville.org.

Stony Run to host events

McALISTERVILLE — Stony Run Mission Church, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, McAlisterville, will offer the following programs:

•May 15 — Hymn sing with Mike Neimond at 6 p.m.

•May 20 — Hymn sing/concert with Chosen Road at 7 p.m.

•May 22 — Dave Dowe will share at 6 p.m.

•May 29 — No evening service

UMC to host Bible study

LEWISTOWN — First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

REEDSVILLE — Schrader United Methodist Church will host the following speakers during its 8:30 a.m. services:

Church to show ‘The Chosen’

BELLEVILLE — Maple Grove Mennonite Church will screen “The Chosen” at 6:30 p.m. May 15, 22, June 5 and 12. See the dramatization of life of the disciples and walk with Jesus. Refreshments will be provided.

benefit concert

LEWISTOWN — St. John’s Lutheran Church, 12 N. Main St., Lewistown, will host a benefit concert to fund repairs for the church’s roof at 3 p.m. May 22.

Gospel quartet to perform at Messiah

MIFFLINTOWN — Messiah Lutheran Church will host Grace Gospel Quartet during 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday, May 22.

Church to host prayer station

McAlisterville – Global Wave of Prayer will be held May 26 to June 5. Resources will be provided at Trinity Lutheran Church, McAlisterville and online. During the week, there will be a public prayer station set up at St. Peter’s Grove behind the church playground. All are welcome to pray anytime from dawn to dusk. For more information, visit www.thyingdomcome.global. There will be an ecumenical prayer service for the Ukraine at 5 p.m. June 5.

Bible conference held

MIFFLINTOWN – A special Bible conference will be held on state Route 35, Mifflintown on June 12. Featured speaker will be Dr. Jobe Martin. At 8 a.m. Martin will speak on “Evidences for Special Creation.” At 9:15 a.m. there will be a combined adult/teen study,” Biblically handling conflict resolution: Growing love, peace and unity within the family of God.” At 10:30 a.m., the talk will be “Seeking God in the Storms of Life.”

Dr. Jobe Martin, a native of Bloomsburg and a 1966 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. After spending two years in the Air Force where he was a dentist for the Presidential flight crews of Air Force One, he established a private dental practice at NASA in Houston, TX.

Jobe and his wife, Jenna Dee, moved to Dallas in 1971 when he assumed a teaching post at the Baylor College of Dentistry. In 1982, he left to enroll at Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 1986 with a Masters in Theology and founded the Martin family ministry, Biblical Discipleship Ministries. He is the featured speaker on the three-part series, Incredible Creatures that Defy Evolution as well as the Creation Proclaims creation series. He has written the book “The Evolution of a Creationist.”

Summer camps return to East Kish

REEDSVILLE — Summer day camps at East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, 100 Walnut Street, Reedsville, will be held at no cost to campers. To register a child, or for more information, call Gail Wagner at (717) 667-6526. Grades refer to the grade the child has completed. Camps will be offered as follows:

•Art Camp — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 20-24, grades 3 and up, lunch is provided;

•Computer Camp — 1 to 5:30 p.m. July 11-15. grades 4 and up, snack provided;

•Kids Camp — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 18-22, kindergarten through grade 2, lunch provided;

•Sewing Camp — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 25-29, grade 4 and up, lunch provided.

Centre Lutheran to host day camp

MIFFLINTOWN — A summer day camp sponsored by Centre Lutheran Church, Mifflintown in partnership with Camp Mount Luther will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20-24 daily at the church. Kids who have completed kindergarten through sixth grades are invited to come and experience outdoor ministries close to home. Staff from Camp Mount Luther and volunteers from the congregation will be on hand to bring fun, fellowship, and the love of God through our day camp program. Day camp includes games, sports, Bible study, singing, crafts and worship. Call (717) 436-8916 for more information and to register by June 10.
