It's almost over, folks…yet it's only just begun. 2021 is over, and a new day, a new hope, a new faith is upon us. Are you ready?
While I've never been one to make New Year Resolutions (because I've learned they are often made in haste and soon forgotten), I see the need for us to recognize that we are stepping into a new day with so many opportunities before us. We DO need to reflect on decisions we've made during this last year and realize just how those decisions may have reaped rewards or devastation. Life or death…every single day of this past year has taken us somewhere. We either focused on positivity or negativity. On a daily basis, we either consciously chose to include God, or deny Him. We either chose to reach out to others in need, or to turn our backs and reject the notion that our involvement may make a difference. We either chose others or self.
This morning, I'm choosing to delve into the Scriptures again. I'm choosing to read through the Bible in a year, again. Good choice! I'm making a deliberate choice to include Jesus in each and every day of this coming year, knowing that it will make a huge difference in how I view my world and my own personal environment for having done so. What about you? Can you see the benefits of making God your top priority in the days ahead? Why not set aside some time during the day today to pray about it and consider including this practice into your daily dose of encouragement each and every day of the coming year? Ya know, we could almost stop here. Everything else we plan to commit to would be a result of choosing Jesus first!
Ok, next? Our health and well being -- that's right, I used to walk 3 miles daily. During that time, my body benefited immensely, but more so, my heart…my soul. During those walks, I prayed, I planned out my day…AFTER having been with Jesus. Some of the best conversations of my life have taken place while I'm walking and talking to the Lord. Why not give that a try? Include that in your new beginning!
