Church to host conference

LEWISTOWN -- Bethel AME church Hope Center, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, will host a Christian Women's Wellness Conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Hope Community Center.

McALISTERVILLE -- Stony Run Mission Church, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, McAlisterville, will host the following events

¯ Nov. 21 -- Pastor Nick Smith will be sharing at 6 p.m.

Ministry to support single moms

BELLEVILLE -- The Mifflin County Single Moms Care and Support Group will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays at New Life Church Cafe, 101 Beech St., Burnham from Sept. 10, 2021 to May 27, 2022.

Dinner is served from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for mothers and children. Child care runs from 7 to 8 p.m. while mothers meet in a group. For more information, call or text Ann at (717) 437-4946.

Pine Glen host special service

LEWISTOWN -- The Pine Glen Church of the Brethren will hold a special service, "The Celebration Begins," at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 21.

Special guests will be Buffalo Mountain Bluegrass Band from Perry County. They will be singing Christmas and gospel songs. The brother and sister duo have played various venues, including the Farm Show, since 2009.

Performers Autumn and Canyon are known for their fiddle and guitar skills, and tight sibling harmonies.

During the service, the church will be decorated for Christmas. A "joy tree" hosted by In His Service Sunday School class, will be decorated and waiting for members to choose anonymous tags to buy gifts for needy children. Also, a "Jesse Tree" will be displayed with pictures and scripture to reveal messages in the Old Testament that point to the coming of a Messiah. Pastor Randy Fiske will present the seasonal message related to "The Celebration Begins."

Members and guests are invited to join in a fellowship meal following the church service.

Penn View to offer concert

Lewistown church hosts concert

LEWISTOWN -- An Advent concert will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28 at Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. 3rd St. Youth and adults from the community will perform music in the church sanctuary. An offering will be taken for Shelter Services. Refreshments will be served in the Baraca Room.

Opportunity offered to aid ministry

BURNHAM -- A one-day chartered bus trip to a Baltimore processing center to pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be offered on Monday, Nov. 29. The trip is sponsored by the Juniata Valley Area Team. The team will depart from the Lewistown Walmart at 6 p.m. and work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The group is expected to return by 9:15 p.m. There will be a stop for breakfast and dinner along the way. A day at the processing center includes working on filler items to be placed into shoeboxes where and as needed, checking each and every box for money/checks, making sure there isn't anything not permitted in each box, taping them up, and putting them into shipper boxes. Jobs are available for those that may not be able to stand for long periods of time as well.

McCoysville hosts Christmas tea

McCOYSVILLLE -- The congregation of McCoysville Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Christmas Tea at 1 p.m. Dec. 4. This year it will be a virtual tea party using Facebook Live. The Theme this year is "Christmas Cards." Pastor Graham Fowler will share a devotion that draws on the history of Christmas cards and Barb and Leif winter will play Christmas carols inspired by the themes in our Christmas cards. Journey church to host gift wrapping

LEWISTOWN -- A Christmas gift wrapping will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 11 and 18 at The Journey Church, 604 Electric Ave. There will be cookies and hot chocolate for free. Parking courtesy of Kish Bank. Donations accepted.

YEAGERTOWN -- Yeagertown United Methodist Church, 7 N. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, will hold a Christmas eve service at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24. There will be a candle lighting service.
