Church to host special concert

LEWISTOWN — Pine Glen Church of the Brethren will host a performance by Randy and Jade Fisher at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 5

Church to host upcoming events

BELLEVILLE — Watts Memorial United Methodist Church, at the corner of Walnut and Greet streets, will host the following events at its 9 a.m. worship services with Pastor Steve Swigart:

¯Sept. 12: Sunday School for youth and adult class in the Fellowship Hall along with continuation of the Willing Workers Class in the sanctuary

¯Sept 19: 5 to 7 p.m. Buffalo Mountain Bluegrass Concert for the community on church lawn (or inside if questionable weather) with refreshments.

The Buffalo Mountain Bluegrass Band consists of sibling duo, Autumn and Canyon Moore. They have been performing together since 2008, and they play a variety of music styles including, but not limited to, Bluegrass, Gospel, Civil War, Patriotic, Country, Irish, Canadian, and Scottish. JC Fair to hold worship service

PORT ROYAL — Juniata County Fair’s Community Worship Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 5 rain or shine.

The event will be held under a large tent located on the upper Juniata County Fairgrounds (inside the fairgrounds fence and roadway that run adjacent to 8th Street). The event is led by the Juniata County Ministerium members and pastors.

Local pastors will lead the service and past Pennsylvania state FFA President and ccurrent seminarian Libby Baker-Mikesell will serve as a guest speaker.

Special music and a cappella hymn support will be provided by the local Juniata County singing group The Boyz.

A freewill offering will be collected to help support Meals of Hope (communities coming together to end hunger).

Bring your own lawn chair. Arrive at 4 p.m. to secure parking and seating. Parking will be free of charge in the field adjacent to the fairgrounds.

Ministry to support single moms

BELLEVILLE — The Mifflin County Single Moms Care and Support Group will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays at New Life Church Cafe, 101 Beech St., Burnham from Sept. 10, 2021 to May 27, 2022.

Dinner is served from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for mothers and children. Child care runs from 7 to 8 p.m. while mothers meet in a group. For more information, call or text Ann at (717) 437-4946.

Bunkertown church to host The Nelons

McALISTERVILLE — Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, will feature The Nelons, Gospel Music Hall of Fame Members during the churches 7 p.m. service on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The popular musical family earmned the 2017 Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for their hit release, “When Grandpa Sang Amazing Grace.” Most recently, the Nelons released “Peace at Last” on the Daywind music label.

Church to host movie night

REEDSVILLE –Reedsville United Methodist Church, 60 E. Logan St., Reedsville, is having a movie night at 6:30 p.m. Sept 12. The movie is “An Interview With God.” Refreshments will be available.

Church to host upcoming events

McALISTERVILLE — Stony Run Mission Church, 2825 Evendale Hill Road, will host the following events:

¯Sept. 12 — The Lebanon Valley Gospel band will share during a 2:30 p.m. service. There will be no evening service.

¯Sept. 26 — The 11th annual Tractor Ride Service, “Riding on Faith,” will be held at Basom Memorial Park in Richfield. Jeremy Goodling will be sharing in the church service at 10 a.m. Lunch will be at 11:30 a.m and the tractor ride will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Rain date is Oct. 3.

¯Oct. 17-20 — Rall revival services with Billy Huddleston will be held. Sunday services will be at 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. each evening.

Yeagertown UMC to host picnic

YEAGERTOWN — The annual Yeagertown United Methodist and Rhodes Memorial picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 12. The donut and coffee social starts at 10:30 a.m. followed with the 11 a.m. church service. The event will be held at the green pavilion at Kish Park. Patty Dahl will present her message and song. The service is followed with a noon tureen meal.

Church to host outdoor concert

MIDDLEBURG — St. Paul’s (Erdley’s) Lutheran Church, 2337 Erdley Church Road, Middleburg, will host and outdoor music concert at 2 p.m. Sept. 12. Mercy Run will perform at 2 p.m. and Seger Family will perform at 4 p.m.

Those planning to attend should bring their own lawn chairs. Refreshments will be served. In case of inclement weather, attendants can listen from their vehicles.

Good Shepherd Club set to begin in Sept.

YEAGERTOWN — The Good Shepherd Club for youth from kindergarten through sixth grade will begin Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Yeagertown United Methodist Church.

Refreshments, a Bible lesson and an activity will be presented from 4 to 5 p.m. in the social room. Parents or guardians should accompany the child the first day as permission forms need completed.

First Baptist to host 9/11 service

MIFFLINTOWN — The First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 1 mile North of Mifflintown on Route 35, will hold Special 9/11 service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the church will honor all firemen, policemen and EMS personnel. Everyone is invited to attend.

The special guest speaker will be Bill Arndt from Elizabethtown, a 27 year veteran of the Pennsylvania State Police. Arndt retired, at the rank of captain, as the special services director within the Bureau of Emergency and Special Operations.

3 Heath Brothers to perform

McALISTERVILLE — The 3 Heath Brothers, (3heathbrothers.com), will be perform at the Bunkertown Brethren Church, 52 Bunkertown Road, McAlisterville at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. A free will offering will be taken.

Quartet to perform in McAlisterville

McALISTERVILLE — Soul’d Out Quartet perform at Bunkertown Brethren Church at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8. A free will offering will be taken the night of the concert.

Opportunity offered to aid ministry

BURNHAM — A one-day chartered bus trip to a Baltimore processing center to pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be offered on Monday, Nov. 29. The trip is sponsored by the Juniata Valley Area Team. The team will depart from the Lewistown Walmart at 6 p.m. and work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The group is expected to return by 9:15 p.m. There will be a stop for breakfast and dinner along the way. A day at the processing center includes working on filler items to be placed into shoeboxes where and as needed, checking each and every box for money/checks, making sure there isn’t anything not permitted in each box, taping them up, and putting them into shipper boxes. Jobs are available for those that may not be able to stand for long periods of time as well.

Church to share ministry

MIFFLINTOWN — William and Natalie Taylor of Continental Baptist Missions will share about their ministry of church planting with the Dockertys in Cleveland, Ohio during 8 and 10:30 a.m. services on Sept. 19 at First Baptist Church of Mifflintown. William will also be preaching during the morning service.

First Baptist is located on Route 35, one mile North of Mifflintown.
