MIFFLINTOWN -- A Juniata County church is looking to partner with other churches to offer a program that would provide nutritious meals to families.
Aldersgate United Methodist Church plans to pack meals on Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Port Royal Fairgrounds.
According to a news release from the church, it is seeking 100 volunteers to prepare the meals.
Meals of Hope will provide training and supplies needed to pack its goal of 50,000 meals, which would cost about $13,500.
The church is also seeking financial support to help reach its monetary goal. Its congregants have already raised about $4,500.
The majority of meals will be distributed to Juniata and Perry county food pantries. The remaining meals will be divided among participating churches and groups to distribute as they wish.
Aldersgate will be selling R&K sandwiches and subs for delivery on Aug. 24 to help raise funds. The church has also opened a Go Fund Me page for those wishing to donate. It can be found at https://bit.ly/2Vbz06M.
