Branch Road to close in Centre Co. Monday

STATE COLLEGE — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that its Centre County Maintenance Organization will close Route 3009 (Branch Road) in College Township for approximately three days to complete a pipe replacement. Replacing the pipe will prevent uncontrolled water flow from damaging the pavement and extend the service life of the road. STATE COLLEGE — Kish Bancorp Inc., the parent company of Kish Bank, has appointed Tina M. Collins as chief financial officer and announced the hiring of Sean Rainey as the company’s new controller. Bloomsburg man sentenced in shooting

HARRISBURG — A Bloomsburg man has been sentenced to 13 to 26 years in state prison for opening fire outside a Mount Carmel bar in 2022 after a neighbor complained about loud music coming from his vehicle. Pennsylvania state officials are pushing back on the Trump administration’s claim that there may be more than 14,000 potential noncitizens registered to vote in the state. In a letter sent Wednesday to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said the federal government has not disclosed the methodology or data source it used to identify the noncitizens. CLEARFIELD — PennDOT, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Highway Safety Network are reminding motorists to drive safely as a statewide aggressive driving enforcement campaign continues through Aug. 16. Officials highlighted the effort Thursday at Cold Stream Dam Recreation Park in Philipsburg, where law enforcement agencies said they are targeting speeding, tailgating, unsafe lane changes, reckless driving and other aggressive driving behaviors. Eligible LIHEAP households to receive utility bill payment

From staff reports HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services announced that about 193,000 households will automatically receive a one-time $100 supplemental payment through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The payments are available to households that received LIHEAP assistance during the 2025-26 heating season and include at least one person age 60 or older, a person with a disability or a child younger than 6.
