HERSHEY -- Penn State Health Life Lion Critical Care Transport has added a new helicopter to its fleet to expand access to emergency and specialty care across central Pennsylvania.
The Airbus H155 will be stationed at Life Lion's Lancaster base and joins two other H155 helicopters. The aircraft can accommodate advanced medical equipment, specialty personnel and family members and is equipped to operate in low visibility and high winds.
"Adding this aircraft strengthens our ability to deliver that care safely and efficiently, giving more patients access to the advanced resources that can improve outcomes," said Dr. Chadd Nesbit, lead EMS physician and division chief for Life Lion.
Life Lion is celebrating 40 years of air medical transport in 2026. Since its first patient flight in 1986, the program has transported more than 45,000 patients. It currently flies about 1,200 air medical missions annually, with nearly half of its missions involving pediatric or neonatal patients.
