Shuck Agency joins Kish Insurance

2 min read

HUNTINGDON -- The Shuck Agency will become part of Kish Insurance on Aug. 1, expanding the insurance provider's presence in Huntingdon County while allowing the agency to continue operating under its local name.

Kish Bancorp Inc., parent company of Kish Bank, announced Thursday that the Huntingdon-based agency will join Kish Insurance, the bank's property and casualty insurance subsidiary.

Under the transition, the Shuck Agency will continue operating from its current office as a division of Kish Insurance. Andy Cipar, the agency's principal, will remain in his leadership role as managing director and continue serving clients.

Kish Insurance officials said the transition will occur in phases to ensure there is no interruption in service for Shuck Agency clients or those of the Kline Agency, which has operated under its original name since joining the Shuck Agency in 1986.

Jeff Wilson, CEO of Kish Insurance, said the partnership brings together two organizations with long histories of serving their communities.

"Andy and Stan Cipar have built something special through the trust they've earned in the community over many years," Wilson said. "We are proud to welcome Andy and his team to Kish Insurance and to support the excellent service his clients know and love."

Cipar said the partnership will allow the agency to expand the services available to clients while maintaining its local relationships.

"This is an exciting step for our agency, as joining Kish positions both us and our clients for the future," Cipar said. "We're maintaining everything our clients value today while gaining the resources and flexibility to meet their future insurance needs."

According to Kish, clients of the Shuck and Kline agencies will gain access to additional insurance products, a broader network of insurance carriers and expanded operational resources.

Kish Insurance was established in 1997 when Kish Bank acquired the Thompson-Wilson Agency of Lewistown, a business whose roots date to 1922. The company said it was the first acquisition of an insurance agency by a Pennsylvania bank.

The Shuck Agency traces its history to 1862, when it began operating in Huntingdon under an appointment with Hartford Insurance Company. The Cipar family has owned the agency since 1982, when Stan Cipar Sr. purchased it from Jack Shuck. Andy Cipar has owned and operated the agency since acquiring it from his father in 1995.
