CLEARFIELD -- PennDOT, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Highway Safety Network are reminding motorists to drive safely as a statewide aggressive driving enforcement campaign continues through Aug. 16.
Officials highlighted the effort Thursday at Cold Stream Dam Recreation Park in Philipsburg, where law enforcement agencies said they are targeting speeding, tailgating, unsafe lane changes, reckless driving and other aggressive driving behaviors.
According to PennDOT, aggressive driving behaviors were a factor in 61% of crashes in Centre County in 2025. Officials said aggressive driving also remains the leading contributing factor in crashes across PennDOT District 2, which includes Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean and Mifflin counties.
Trooper Jake Rhymestine of the Pennsylvania State Police said proactive enforcement is aimed at reducing crashes, preventing injuries and improving safety for all roadway users. Highway Safety Network officials urged drivers to allow extra travel time, obey traffic laws and avoid risky driving behaviors that become more common during the summer months.
