HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services announced that about 193,000 households will automatically receive a one-time $100 supplemental payment through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The payments are available to households that received LIHEAP assistance during the 2025-26 heating season and include at least one person age 60 or older, a person with a disability or a child younger than 6.
Payments began July 29 and are being sent directly to recipients' utility companies or home heating fuel providers. If issued to an electric utility, the payment may also be applied toward cooling costs.
The supplemental payments are funded through remaining federal LIHEAP funds from the 2025-26 season. Eligible households do not need to apply and will receive notification of the benefit.
The 2025-26 LIHEAP season ended May 8 after providing assistance to more than 278,000 Pennsylvania households. State officials said the one-time payment will not affect eligibility for the 2026-27 LIHEAP season, with application details to be announced later this year.
