Broadway shows, community programs highlight upcoming schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Penn State Center for the Performing Arts has announced its 2026-27 season, featuring Broadway productions, dance, classical music, jazz and community engagement programs.
The season includes performances by artists from six continents and features productions such as The Wiz, Clue, Shucked, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical and Black Panther in Concert, along with performances by the Shanghai Ballet, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists.
"Our season offers shared experiences to spark curiosity, connections and renewal," Center for the Performing Arts Director Sita Frederick said in a statement.
The fall season opens Oct. 13 with Teatro La Plaza's production of Hamlet and continues through December with performances including The Wiz, Clue, Shanghai Ballet's Giselle, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Penn State School of Music's annual Mosaic holiday concert.
The spring schedule begins Jan. 23 with the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert and includes Shucked, Minty Fresh Circus, Black Panther in Concert, A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical and performances by the Leonkoro Quartet.
The center will also continue its free Joyfull community engagement series, featuring performances and cultural events celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, Black history, Women's History Month and Pride. Additional free engagement programs, school-time matinees and accessibility services will be offered throughout the season.
Season tickets will go on sale to Center for the Performing Arts members beginning Aug. 11, with public sales opening Aug. 12. Tickets may be purchased online, by phone or at the Arts Ticket Center in Eisenhower Auditorium.
