Playhouse set to hold auditions for ‘Great American Trailer Park Musical’

McCONNELLSTOWN — The Playhouse at McConnellstown will hold auditions for its upcoming production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the theater, 11680 Raystown Road.
Directed by Oscar Pollock and Abby Lambert, the country-rock and blues musical is scheduled to be performed Aug. 21, 22, 28, and 29 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances Aug. 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.
Auditioners should prepare 16 bars from a musical selection and bring piano sheet music. Recorded accompaniment will not be accepted. Cold script readings will also be conducted during auditions.
The production calls for seven performers, ages 18 and older, of any gender, race or ethnicity. Roles include Jeannie and Norbert Garstecki, a married couple navigating challenges in their relationship; Pippi, a newcomer to the trailer park seeking a fresh start; Duke, Pippi’s persistent ex-boyfriend; and trailer park residents Betty, Linoleum and Donna, also known as “Pickles.”
Featuring music and lyrics by David Nehls and a book by Betsy Kelso, “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” is a comedy centered on the residents of Armadillo Acres, whose lives are upended by the arrival of a new neighbor. The production contains adult themes and humor and is intended for mature audiences.
In addition to actors, The Playhouse is seeking volunteers to assist with stage crew, technical production, concessions, front-of-house operations, set construction, marketing and parking.
