STATE COLLEGE — A section of Beaver Avenue in State College will be closed beginning June 8 to allow for construction activities related to a residential building project, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

PennDOT said Route 26 (Beaver Avenue) will be closed between Atherton Street and Burrowes Street starting Monday, June 8, as a crane is staged on the roadway for the project.

An approximately three-mile detour will be in place during the closure. Motorists will be directed along Atherton Street, Park Avenue and University Drive before reconnecting with Beaver Avenue at the University Drive on-ramp.

PennDOT expects the work to be completed and the roadway reopened by Wednesday, June 10.
