AG sues wedding photographer
Lawsuit alleges failure to provide photos, videos
From staff reports
HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday has filed a lawsuit against a Philadelphia wedding photography business, alleging it failed to provide wedding photos and videos to customers and refused to refund deposits.
The lawsuit, filed in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, names Christina Hernandez Artistry LLC, doing business as Wandering Stardust Collective, and its owner, Christina Garcia.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the business entered into contracts with consumers to photograph and record their weddings but failed to deliver the promised photos and videos. The lawsuit also alleges the company refused to refund deposits paid by customers.
The lawsuit further alleges Garcia represented that she would personally photograph weddings but, in some cases, double- or triple-booked events before canceling at the last minute and sending replacement photographers instead.
The Attorney General’s Office estimates consumers suffered at least $75,000 in losses.
“A wedding day is one of the most precious and cherished moments in the lives of a couple, and this business darkened those days by neglecting appointments, then refusing to refund customers,” Sunday said in a statement. “With this lawsuit, we will fight for those clients to be made whole and that this photographer never again conduct business in the Commonwealth.”
The lawsuit seeks restitution for affected consumers, a permanent ban preventing the defendants from owning or operating a business that markets or sells goods or services in Pennsylvania, and civil penalties under the state’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
Consumers who believe they were affected are encouraged to file a complaint with the Office of Attorney General.
