Anglers get free fishing dates at Whipple Dam
PETERSBURG — Want to get in some fishing at a favorite watering hole at Whipple Dam State Park. Two dates are coming up where no experience or fishing license is required.
Family fishing at the Huntingdon County state park, located at 3746 Laurel Run Road, Petersburg, will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday.
“Family fishing is a great way to get out and enjoy Whipple Dam together,” said Jen Moore, environmental education specialist at Whipple Dam State Park. “Enjoy the program in the morning and stay for a picnic or a swim in the afternoon.”
Interested anglers should meet at the pier and join the park naturalist for a morning of fishing. The program is free. All equipment will be provided and all ages are welcome. There’s also no registration necessary.
On Friday, Aug. 16, a “Wake Up and Fish with the Fish and Boat Commission” is scheduled for Whipple Dam State Park from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Anglers should meet at Pavilion No. 1 and can take this opportunity to enjoy more family time together before school starts up. This program is geared toward families with little or no fishing experience, too.
Attendees will learn basic fishing skills and put those skills to good use during the program. Again, a fishing license is not required during this event.
Registration is required. Visit www.register-ed.com/events/view/214229 to sign up.
