McCONNELLSTOWN -- The Playhouse at McConnellstown will conclude its 2026 season with a production of "A Christmas Carol," running Nov. 20 through 29.

The production features Michael Paller's adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic holiday story, with Michael Kane serving as director.

Set in London on Christmas Eve in 1843, the adaptation begins with Dickens working on his Victorian ghost story. He is visited by The Child, a spirit representing his childhood, who offers insight into his life and inspirations.

When Dickens' family and friends arrive for a Christmas celebration, they ask him to tell a story before their feast. Dickens agrees, provided everyone participates in the performance.

The resulting play follows Ebenezer Scrooge's transformation while periodically returning to Dickens and his guests.

"I've been a lifelong fan of 'A Christmas Carol'; and it's been a tradition every Christmas in my family and my wife's family for years," Kane said. "It's fascinating to see it unfurl before my eyes, and I get to work with talented youth and adult actors from our community to bring it to life."

The adult ensemble includes Colin Brislawn, Alex Evans, Abbie Kane, Ben Lattimer, Oscar Pollock, Victor Seguin, C. Michael Shively and Ashley Stuber.

The youth ensemble includes Claire Brown, Linus Donahue, Thelma Evans, Gracelynn Grove, Roslyn Kane, Everett Lattimer, Ezra Lattimer, Jax McCartney, Garrett Pollock, Paige Pollock, R. Smith, Ameigha Swarmer, Brantley Swarmer, Lydia Thompson, Natalie Thompson, Vayda Threadgill, Ella Vaughn and Elsie Weld.

The production’s creative team includes stage manager Cathy Failor and stage crew lead Bram Evans. Clay Glenny and Jennifer Powell serve as acting coaches.

Lighting design is by Keith Sutton and Colin Brislawn, with sound design by Gabe Donahue and Rick Brown. Jeanne Nagurny is responsible for costumes.

Kane said the production has been a collaborative effort involving the cast and crew.

"It's truly an honor to be in a collaborative environment where actor and director are on an even plane, each bringing their own take on the spirit of the classic tale," Kane said.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, with 2 p.m. matinees Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets are $18 for general admission and $16 for seniors ages 60 and older, students ages 6 and older, and military personnel.
