LEWISTOWN -- The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata has launched its 2027 Annual Campaign with a fundraising goal of $375,000 to support human service programs throughout Mifflin and Juniata counties.
The campaign began in conjunction with the organization’s annual Day of Caring, held Sept. 16, when volunteers completed service projects at locations throughout the two counties.
Volunteers painted, repaired facilities and completed landscaping projects at human service agencies, parks, ball fields, playgrounds and other community locations.
The projects provided assistance to local organizations while helping them reduce maintenance expenses and direct more resources toward their programs.
"The Day of Caring is more than just a volunteer event; it’s a living testament to the compassion that binds our communities," said Colette Hartzler of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata.
Funds raised through the annual campaign support 14 partner agencies that provide services ranging from basic needs assistance and youth mentorship to programs for older adults.
Hartzler said residents can contribute through one-time donations or payroll deductions, which allow employees to make smaller contributions throughout the year.
"A payroll deduction is really the simplest way to give, you commit it and then forget it," Hartzler said.
According to the organization, money raised through the campaign remains in Mifflin and Juniata counties to support local programs addressing health, education and financial stability.
The United Way is encouraging individuals, businesses and organizations to participate in the fundraising effort.
Contributions can be made online at www.mjunitedway.org by selecting the GIVE tab or by texting "donate27" to 41444.
